Velomobile of the future

June 28, 2009 By: IIP Category: Entertainment, Health / Fitness, Industrial / Machinery

Fig.1 schematically shows velomobile’s general view, in fig.2 – section A-A of fig.1, in fig.3 – section B-B of fig.1.
The proposed velomobile contains a frame 1, corpus 2, in which, with the possibility of rotation, there are cylinders 3 and 4; they are in the periodic toothed adhesion with item #5 of cylinder 3 with tooth 6, performed uniformly on the circle at cylinder 4. In addition, cylinders 3 and 4 have a parallel connection, and through the dentate outer normal mesh with the gear ratio equal to the number of teeth, 6 gears 7 and 8. Cylinders 3 and 4 are installed with the possibility of sliding of the cylindrical surfaces of each of other.

In the main body #2 there is a working volume of 9, with the air intakes and exhaust valves, respectively 10 and 11, which reported two pairs of pressure chamber 12 with a working volume of 9. Pressure chamber 12 consists of a fixed plate 13 and movable plate 14, connected to the # 2 and the hinge 15 prolonged to 16 with console 17. Plates 13 and 14 have springed relative to each other and connected by a spring 18 for pressurizing the volume of pressure chamber 12 of flexible fabric 19. At the plate 14 there is intake and exhaust valves, respectively 20 and 21. At frame 1 set with the possibility of rotation on axes 22 wheels 23, each of which a brake block 24 on a rod 25 with handle 26, which is located in the hinge 27 on the frame 1. Shaft 28 is installed with the possibility of rotation in the shell 2 and rigidly connected with the cylinder 3, gears 7 and the driving wheels 29. Chambers 12 are reported with a working volume of 9 through the valves 10 and 11 space 30 in the shell 2.
Here is how it works. A seated person on the velomobile (person not shown in the drawing and the rest, too) with their feet alternately presses through the console 17 and moving plate 16 at 14, compressing spring 18. Air through the working space 9 goes from one chamber 12 to the other and vice versa. The work of the valves 10 and 11 allow movement of air in one direction only, which ensures the rotation of the cylinders 3 and 4 and the gear wheels 7 and 8 in the direction of the arrow shown in Fig. 2 and 3. The valve 21 provides air intake from the surrounding area if it has fewer than needed for normal pressure chamber 12 and valve 22 allows to remove excess air trapped in these spaces. Moving of velomobile is performed by the braking of one of the front wheels 23 shoes 24 of the handle 26 by rotating rod 25 in the hinge 27. The rotation of drive wheel 29 corresponds to the rotation shaft 28, rigidly connected with them, as well as tightly associated with the cylinder 3 and the toothed wheel 7.
CLAIMS
Velomobile is containing the frame, wheels, steering and drive to the pressure chamber is different in the was that the drive was made in the form of the shell, tightly bound to the frame in which the possibility of revolution, there are two cylinder, having the opportunity to roll from one sliding across their cylindrical surfaces and having the opportunity to enter the tooth of gear through the Depression, carried out in one of the cylinders, and teeth, made in quantity equal to the ratio of the tooth, uniformly in a circle on the other cylinder, these cylinders are of a another toothing with the same ratio over conventional gear Kolas external toothing, the working volume is between the cylinder with teeth and body and is connected with the volume of each pressure chamber through the air intakes and exhaust valves for the mobile part of a rigid pressure chambers are made with a special configuration of the air intakes and exhaust valves.
